What a year it has been for the McKenney Hills-Carroll Knolls Civic Association! Membership is thriving, events are well attended, and new folks are volunteering!
Since our last newsletter, the Civic Association has hosted our annual Summer Block Party, National Night Out, the Halloween Parade, and a backyard social hour and weekend coffee hour for our membership meetings. The events were wonderful opportunities for neighbors to come together and we saw record attendance at each of these events.
Last month, the board was invited to present at the Montgomery County Civic Federation (MCCF) monthly membership meeting. We spoke with other Montgomery County residential associations about the revitalization of our Civic Association over the past several years. Here are some highlights from our presentation:
Increased membership by 400% over historic levels
Used listserv with approximately 600 members for staying connected and engaging new volunteers
Mailed postcards and used signs to reach those not online
Trialed weekday social hour and weekend coffee hour to draw members to attend membership meetings
Revitalized sponsorship program with eight sponsors for 2022
I am grateful for the support of my fellow board members and each of the committee chairs for their commitment to improving our civic association. Thank you to all of those who have volunteered their time and expertise this year. We have a phenomenal neighborhood and it has been an honor to serve as your Civic Association President.
We have some exciting things in store for 2023, including a new membership platform, so stay tuned. There are always opportunities, both small and big, to volunteer with the Civic Association; please do not hesitate to reach out to get more information if you would like to become more involved.
Be well and Happy New Year!
