HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR 2021

October 30, 2021

Neighborhood kids took to the streets for the Halloween Spooktacular! The event was a smashing success, with dozens of children and their families enjoying fun and games in the beautiful Fall weather. Special thanks to Glenwood Pool for letting us gather and parade around their parking lot for the second year. More pictures can be found in our facebook group.

JULY 2021 BLOCK PARTY

July 3, 2021

McKenney Hills-Carroll Knolls neighbors, stuck in their homes during Covid, needed a party with social gathering, music, games, food and refreshments. And they found one: the civic association’s block party July 3 at Capital View-Homewood park.

At least 150 people attended throughout the gorgeous Saturday afternoon. They probably would have been satisfied with the hotdogs and the usual bagged snacks. But the association went all out this year to add a popcorn machine and an hour of free ice cream from a food truck.

APRIL 2021 McKENNEY HILLS PARK

Thanks to the 28 people that helped clean up McKenney Hills Park in April! With help from a group of volunteers from the JC Penney at Wheaton Mall and 9 students who earned SSL hours, we managed to gather 2 bags of recycling, 4 bags of trash (not much, but that's good), and 20 bags of garlic mustard plus one tire and some crates. Thanks to all the hard-working volunteers who helped make the park a better place for all of us. And thanks to Rochelle Bartolomei for leading the effort.
