National Night Out 2022

Updated: Nov 25, 2022

The civic association had another successful and well-attended National Night Out in August, but this one was special. We honored our longtime, retiring community officer Joy Bartholomew, with glass keepsakes that included inscriptions thanking her for her service to our community. Capt. David McBain, commander of the Third District Montgomery County Police Department station, spoke about Joy and the station’s coverage of our neighborhood.

We had our usual, fantastic participation from the Silver Spring and Kensington fire stations, which sent firetrucks and an ambulance. They resumed the pre-Covid policy of letting kids sit in the front seats of the trucks and allowed volunteers to be loaded into the ambulance to see what it’s like. Starbucks again provided free coffee.

My only regret is that County Executive Marc Elrich and Fire Chief Scott Goldstein arrived after most people had left. I will try to get them earlier next year.
